Department of Compact Development
The Department of Compact Development:
- Manages the relationship between MCC and Compact-eligible countries.
- Provides integrated teams with a broad range of expertise and regional knowledge to Compact-eligible countries to help continuously improve the quality of the proposed programs.
- Continues MCC’s commitment to accountability by covering safeguard responsibilities such as environmental and social assessments, procurement, fiscal accountability, economic analysis, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Initiates contact with newly selected countries and manages MCC's relationship with eligible countries until Compacts are ready for implementation.
- Helps eligible countries identify their constraints to poverty reduction and economic growth, and prioritize investments to address these constraints.
- Provides expertise in specific sectors, such as health, education, infrastructure, agriculture and finance to assess and refine countries’ proposals.
- Ensures that countries’ proposals meet stringent environmental and social safeguards standards through design and impact mitigation measures.
- Assists partner countries to design detailed monitoring and evaluation plans with specific, measurable indicators of results.
- Identifies, in partnership with countries, potential areas for collaboration with other development agencies.
- Is responsible for compact negotiation and compact entry-into-force.
Department staff travel to eligible countries throughout the compact development process.
