Lia M. Hanley

Deputy Chief of Staff

Lia M. Hanley is the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Millennium Challenge Corporation. In this role, Mrs. Hanley serves as one of the advisers to MCC’s Chief Executive Officer, providing guidance and leadership on operational and administrative issues, policy matters and corporate strategy.

Prior to working in the Office of the CEO, she served as an Assistant General Counsel providing legal advice in connection with the development and implementation of MCC compact programs. Mrs. Hanley has worked on MCC programs in Georgia, Jordan, Lesotho, Mali, Philippines, Tanzania, and Zambia.

Prior to joining MCC, Mrs. Hanley practiced law at the law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP in San Francisco and Moscow. Her practice included representing U.S. and foreign clients in cross-border and domestic transactions including mergers and acquisitions, corporate securities offerings, joint ventures and strategic investments.

Mrs. Hanley has a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University. She is a member of the California bar.
