Burkina Faso Compact Signing Ceremony

On July 14, 2008, the Millennium Challenge Corporation and Burkina Faso signed a $480.9 million poverty reduction grant.
In a signing ceremony on July 14, 2008 at the State Department’s Benjamin Franklin room, Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Ambassador John Danilovich, and Burkina Fasoâ€™s Minister of Finance, Jean Baptiste Marie Pascal CompaorÃ©, signed a $480.9 million poverty reduction grant. The Chair of MCCâ€™s Board of Directors, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, officiated and witnessed the signing joined by Burkina Fasoâ€™s President Blaise CompaorÃ© and Foreign Minister Djibrill BassolÃ©. U.S. Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Jeanine Jackson, and Burkina Fasoâ€™s Ambassador to the U.S., Ernest Paramanga Yonli, also observed the signing.
