MCC 2009 Annual Report Details Agency’s Achievements

Washington, D.C. The U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) today released its 2009 Annual Report summarizing the agencys progress in the fight against global poverty.

“MCC’s 2009 Annual Report chronicles the achievements and results in partner countries worldwide as MCC continues to invest over $7 billion to fight poverty and stimulate economic growth,” said MCC Chief Executive Officer Daniel Yohannes. “With programs focused on agricultural productivity, infrastructure, clean energy, rural development, education, and health, MCC is a smart and effective steward of U.S. taxpayer dollars. MCC funded projects advance quantifiable results that improve the lives of the poor in practical and meaningful ways. For MCC, fighting global poverty means investing in results for both the world’s poor and American taxpayers.” Mr. Yohannes added.

The 2009 Annual Report provides an update on the status of all MCC programs worldwide.The report includes highlights of MCCs work on food security, human development, land rights, gender equality, and other country-led MCC initiatives.
