MCC CEO Daniel W. Yohannes Expresses Sympathy and Condolences to the Victims of Typhoon Haiyan
All of us at the Millennium Challenge Corporation are profoundly shocked and saddened by the tremendous loss of life and unprecedented devastation in the Philippines. We share our deepest condolences with the families and communities who have experienced such unimaginable tragedy.
Having recently visited the region, I am particularly touched by the devastation and the challenges of recovery. While we continue to assess the ramifications of Typhoon Haiyan on MCC-funded projects, our immediate concern is to help address the myriad challenges of this grave humanitarian disaster in collaboration with our colleagues throughout the U.S. Government.
We are proud of our partnership with the Philippines, an MCC partner country with which we signed a compact in 2010 to advance a future of economic growth and prosperity, and believe in the resilience of the Philippine people. We will continue to stand firmly with all Filipinos during this period of recovery, rebuilding and renewal.
