The Power of Burkina Faso

Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 9:00 am to 10:15 am

Please join the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the United States Chamber of Commerce (USCC) and representatives from the Government of Burkina Faso for “The Power of Burkina Faso”, an impactful virtual roundtable discussion focused on new investment opportunities in Burkina Faso’s energy sector. The “Power of Burkina Faso” will bring together public and private sector representatives, including American and international energy industry professionals, to discuss investment opportunities around the recently signed energy sector compact (a five-year grant agreement) between MCC and the Government of Burkina Faso.

Hosted in partnership between MCC and USCC, this roundtable webinar will provide an overview of MCC’s second compact with Burkina Faso and will serve as an opportunity for exchange between energy sector experts, policy makers, and private companies to raise awareness focused on key issues and investment opportunities in Burkina Faso’s energy sector. The compact aims to address the primary constraints to Burkina Faso’s economic growth: the high cost, poor quality, and low access to electricity. MCC’s investment will improve energy infrastructure, generation capacity, and diversify energy sources. It will also support the country’s goals for increased participation in regional power markets and private sector participation in power generation.

Featuring:

H.E. Seydou Kabore, Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the United States
H.E. Lassané Kabore, Minister of Finance, Economy, and Development of Burkina Faso
H.E. Bachir Ismaël Ouédraogo, Minister of Energy (invited)
