MCC Wraps Productive Week during World Bank Spring Meetings

For Immediate Release

April 14, 2023

WASHINGTON (April 14, 2023) – The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) CEO and senior leadership stayed busy this week meeting with more than 14 country delegations and counterparts from across the globe. Gathered in Washington for the annual World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings, MCC was able to advance partnerships and projects and attend key events.

Highlights include the signing of the $649 million Indonesia Infrastructure and Finance Compact and the signing of the $12 million Compact Development Fund agreement for the MCC-Togo compact.

By the end of the week, MCC will have met with delegations from the Asian Development Bank, Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Mauritania, Mongolia, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, The Gambia, Togo, and Zambia.

Throughout the week, MCC heard from Ministers of Finance and government leaders from current partner countries, and countries interested in becoming eligible for an MCC program, about how MCC’s grant assistance and support for institutional and policy reform can be transformational. Country partners – with programs ranging in status from development to close out – further highlighted how the MCC’s commitment to country-ownership and focus on inclusive and sustainable results is making a tangible difference and helping governments deliver for their people.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation is an independent U.S. government development agency working to reduce global poverty through economic growth. Created in 2004, MCC provides time-limited grants that pair investments in infrastructure with policy and institutional reforms to countries that meet rigorous standards for good governance, fighting corruption and respecting democratic rights.
