MCC Congratulates Deputy CEO Alexia Latortue on Senate Confirmation

For Immediate Release

December 20, 2021

WASHINGTON (December 20, 2021) – The U.S. Senate voted unanimously early Saturday morning to confirm the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC) Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Alexia Latortue, as Assistant Secretary for International Markets at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

“Alexia has been an invaluable partner and tireless team leader,” said Mahmoud Bah, MCC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer. “From entry into force of compacts in Mongolia and Senegal to the signing of a new threshold program with The Gambia, board approval of investments in Tunisia, Solomon Island and the completion of investments in Liberia and Guatemala MCC has had a very productive year. Alexia led an inclusive process to identify MCC’s strategic priorities, encouraged us to be bold in our ambition, and led planning efforts as we set our sights on MCC@20. It has been an absolute pleasure to partner with someone who believes so deeply in MCC’s mission and is such a strong champion of our model.”

The Millennium Challenge Corporation is an independent U.S. government agency working to reduce global poverty through economic growth. Created in 2004, MCC provides time-limited grants and assistance to countries that meet rigorous standards for good governance, fighting corruption and respecting democratic rights.
