Mike Mkayenda, System Operations Manager at ESCOM, provides an overview of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) National Control Center. The new system allows for remote control of the power grid and monitors the status of the network across Malawi.

Phombeya substation handover celebration attendees. The line and the two substations (Phombeya and Nkhoma) will allow Malawi to evacuate power from where it is generated at higher volume and better efficiency and will also eventually allow Malawi to connect to the Southern African Power Pool through Mozambique and Zambia.
