Malawi MCA Aggrey Masi, Malawi’s Minister of Natural Resources Energy and Mining, joined MCC Vice President and General Counsel Jeanne Hauch and MCC’s Resident Country Director in Malawi Molly Glenn for celebrations at the Phombeya substation. Malawi MCA Mike Mkayenda, System Operations Manager at ESCOM, provides an overview of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) National Control Center. The line and the two substations (Phombeya and Nkhoma) will allow Malawi to evacuate power from where it is generated at higher volume and better efficiency and will also eventually allow Malawi to connect to the Southern African Power Pool through Mozambique and Zambia.
