Safety features can successfully be incorporated into road design.

Safety features can successfully be incorporated into road design. Project design included many elements to improve the safety of the road such as geometric design that eliminated dangerous curves, speed bumps, signage, and new pedestrian crossings. Social monitoring committees made up of representatives from the local communities provided input into the road design to improve safety. The evaluation found that even with more vehicles on the road and faster travel times, the number of accidents, injuries, and fatalities all decreased.
