Projected Results by End of Compact

The Georgia Compact aims to achieve the results below by the end of the compact in 2011.

  • Reduce the poverty rate from 55.9 % to 50% in the Samtske-Javakheti region;
  • Generate $27,611,000 in household benefits from compact activities, and
  • Create 4,342 jobs.

Impact Evaluation Framework

In addition to careful monitoring of implementation performance and measurement of preliminary results, MCC is funding two independent evaluations that will assess what would have happened in the absence of the MCC investments and measure the gains in income that can be attributed specifically to MCC-funded activities. Enterprise Development Project

Develop enterprises in the regions through:

  • An Investment Fund to provide long-term risk capital and technical assistance primarily in the regions outside of Tbilisi (Georgia Regional Development Fund), and
  • Grants and technical assistance to farmers and agribusinesses.

Regional Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project

Rehabilitate key regional infrastructure through:

  • Rehabilitation and construction of approximately 171 kilometers of main road traversing the Samtskhe-Javakheti region;
  • Rehabilitation of the North-South Gas Pipeline, and
  • Rehabilitation of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure in regions outside Tbilisi (Regional Infrastructure Development).
