Carrie Monahan is currently the Acting Managing Director for Africa in the Department of Compact Operations at MCC, overseeing a multi-country portfolio of compacts worth $2.5 billion. Prior to starting as Managing Director, she served in multiple leadership roles at MCC including Team Leader for development of a regional compact with the Government of Senegal and Resident Country Director for the $460.5 million Morocco Employability and Land compact based in Rabat, Morocco.
Ms. Monahan also worked for several years at IREX in Washington, D.C. as a Senior Partnerships Manager for the Young African Leaders Initiative, where she developed and managed partnerships with companies around Africa and designed workforce development programming for young African leaders. She also previously worked at the State Department in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco. Before starting her international development career, Ms. Monahan also worked as a Senior Investigator at the Chicago Board of Trade where she investigated commodities trading violations and ensured compliance with trade regulations.
Ms. Monahan has a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a B.A. in International Economics and French from Valparaiso University.
