Recognizing and Encouraging the Protection of the Rights of Workers and Persons with Disabilities

Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is delighted to invite you to join us on Thursday, March 30th, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, for a hybrid event  entitled, Recognizing and Encouraging the Protection of the Rights of Workers and Persons with Disabilities."

As a follow up to the first Summit for Democracy, which recognized the importance of enhancing the rights of workers and persons with disabilities, the United States has been leading the Labor and Democracy Cohort.

Consistent with the goals of the Summit and the cohort, MCC recently added to our annual country scorecards an Employment Opportunity indicator, which measures disability rights, forced labor, workplace discrimination, and the ability of civil society organizations to start-up.

During the upcoming second Summit for Democracy, MCC is convening this event to bring together stakeholders from international labor rights groups as well as disability rights’ organizations to learn about MCC’s unique model, highlight the new indicator, and discuss how its inclusion on MCC’s scorecard can be used to encourage countries to undertake reforms in these areas.

The event will include remarks from UCLA’s WORLD Policy Analysis Center, who produces the data on disability rights and workplace discrimination that inform this indicator.
