Benin Power Compact Signing Ceremony

On September 9, 2015, MCC and the Government of Benin signed a five-year, $375 million compact. This compact will include a contribution of an additional $28 million from the Government of Benin. The Benin Power Compact seeks to unlock private investment by supporting policy reforms and investing in electricity generation, distribution and off-grid electrification. The Benin Compact is MCC’s latest contribution to Power Africa, advancing the goals of increasing electricity generation and access in sub-Saharan Africa, and combating climate change through $175 million for renewable energy capital works and policies.
