Washington, D.C., Dec. 8, 2015 – Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Chief Executive Officer Dana J. Hyde appeared before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations today to discuss MCC’s work to reduce global poverty and proposals to maximize MCC’s impact through regional investments.

In her testimony, Hyde discussed how MCC is catalyzing change and economic growth around the world. She also addressed the role that regional investments could play in reducing poverty in an increasingly interconnected world. Regional integration has been a proven accelerator of growth and poverty reduction, and MCC is seeking new authority to scale its impact through regional investments.

“MCC risks missing opportunities and leaving development impact on the table if it focuses solely on engagements that stop at borders,” said Hyde. “With Congress’s support, MCC’s regional investments can help turn the frontier markets of today into the emerging market partners of tomorrow.”

MCC’s accomplishments over the past decade have underscored its critical role in the U.S. foreign policy toolbox to advance U.S. values and build a more secure and prosperous future.
