Statement from MCC CEO Daniel W. Yohannes on the Senegal Elections:

For Immediate Release

March 27, 2012

We congratulate the people of Senegal on their successful election.  The exercise of the people’s voice through this vote and the public acceptance of the results by both presidential candidates are tangible proof of the continued strength of Senegal’s democracy.

MCC has worked closely with the Government and people of Senegal to develop and implement a $540 million compact.  Senegal’s compact aims to enhance agricultural productivity through investments in the rehabilitation of major national roads and strategic irrigation and water resources management.

MCC takes great pride in partnering with countries that demonstrate a clear commitment to democratic governance and the rule of law.  MCC looks forward to working with the next administration in Senegal in a continued spirit of partnership to advance our common objective of reducing poverty through sustained economic growth.
