The Millennium Challenge Corporation Offers Condolences on the Passing of Ivorian Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Acting Chief Executive Officer Mahmoud Bah and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Alexia Latortue issued the following statements on the passing of Côte d’Ivoire Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko:

“On behalf of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, I extend our deepest condolences to the people and Government of Côte d’Ivoire on the passing of Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko. We join all Ivorians in honoring his life of excellence in public service and statesmanship. The Prime Minister was a champion of the MCC partnership and our programs. Above all, Prime Minister Bakayoko promoted peace for millions of Ivorians. We remain committed to honoring his legacy by working together to successfully implement the MCC-Côte d’Ivoire Compact.”

“The passing of Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko is not only a great loss for Côte d’Ivoire but for the continent of Africa. My personal sympathies, and those of MCC’s staff, are with his family and the people of Côte d’Ivoire. We have lost an esteemed partner in the ongoing fight against poverty.
