Reduce barriers to attend training programs. Fishers were offered trainings on hygiene, fish quality, fishing techniques, fish processing, and maritime security. Training programs were positively received by fishers and most reported using techniques from the training at least some of the time. However, less than half of eligible fishers participated in the trainings, citing inadequate financial incentives or a lack of awareness about the meetings. Low attendance in training sessions is not uncommon in development projects, and more emphasis could be placed on promoting the benefits, as well as removing or reducing barriers to participation to improve attendance.
