Lesson Learned

Qualitative follow-up, along with quantitative survey data, provided deeper insights into the outcomes of the IWRM Project.

Qualitative follow-up, along with quantitative survey data, provided deeper insights into the outcomes of the IWRM Project. Mixed methods research was particularly insightful at unpacking key results. For example, women receiving irrigated land in the Ngalenka perimeter was seen as a key success of the project; however, through focus group discussions, we were able to learn that women were unable to cultivate preferred crops due to the small size of the plots and the high costs of running the irrigation pumps.
