Côte d’Ivoire Regional Compact

Côte d’Ivoire has the third largest energy system in West Africa and is a key regional energy exporter thanks to its strategic geographic location. The compact will increase regional energy security and reduce energy costs within West Africa by increasing Côte d’Ivoire’s ability to trade electricity on the regional market.

By upgrading Côte d’Ivoire’s electrical grid, the compact will also facilitate the Government of Côte d’Ivoire’s efforts to connect approximately 1.8 million households in Côte d’Ivoire without current access to electricity.
