Reasonable Accommodations

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) provides reasonable accommodations to qualified employees and job applicants with disabilities where appropriate. Employees and job applicants requiring reasonable accommodations should contact Talaya Clay or Lavetta Young. Determinations on requests for reasonable accommodations will be made on a case-by-case basis.

A reasonable accommodation is any change to a job, the work environment, or the way things are usually done that enables an individual with a disability to apply for a job, perform job duties or receive equal access to job benefits.

Under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, federal agencies must provide reasonable accommodations when:

  • An applicant with a disability needs an accommodation to have an equal opportunity to apply for a job.
  • An employee with a disability needs an accommodation to perform the essential job duties or to gain access to the workplace.
  • An employee with a disability needs an accommodation to receive equal access to benefits, such as details, training, and office-sponsored events.
You can request a reasonable accommodation at any time during the application or hiring process or while on the job. Requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) website lists more information about disability employment and reasonable accommodations, and the USAJOBS website provides information on how to request a reasonable accommodation with MCC during the hiring process.

Personal Assistance Services (PAS)

MCC also provides PAS to qualified employees and job applicants with disabilities where appropriate. PAS allow employees or applicants for employment during the application process to perform activities of daily living that an individual would typically perform if he or she did not have a disability, such as assistance with removing and putting on clothing, eating, and using bathroom facilities, which are not related to their job performance.

PAS for an MCC employee may be appropriate and available concerning any change to a job, the work environment, or the way things are usually done that enables the employee with a disability perform job duties or receive equal access to job benefits. PAS for an applicant for employment with MCC entails assistance that enables an individual with a disability to be able to apply for a job and engage in a process to clarify what the person needs and identify reasonable accommodations.

Employees and job applicants requiring PAS should contact Talaya Clay or Lavetta Young. Determinations on requests for reasonable accommodations will be made on a case-by-case basis.
